Suffern High School students kick off the drama season Thursday night at the school auditorium with Neil Simon’s farcical play Rumors.
Staged by Kathy Muenz, the play’s story involves a dinner party of friends who gather to celebrate their hosts’ 10-year wedding anniversary. But their host is locked away in an upstairs bedroom with an odd
injury that causes the guests to create any number of stories to cover for their friend, the deputy mayor. What follows is an oddball evening full of mixups and one-liners, where the play’s central character is never seen but is the focus of attention. Everyone has something to hide. Continue Reading

After the umpteenth political ad aggressively attacking someone or other begins to slowly evaporate in the signal ether, numbed minds turn to Tuesday and the all important ballot box. As the sloshing and powerlessness from Superstorm Sandy subsides, election day is upon us and power returns to the hands of ordinary people.

As Yogi Berra once said, “It’s like deja-vu, all over again.”
With light winds already lifting leaves from trees, it’s time to really batten down the hatches. Sandy could deliver weather just like Irene did, but worse.
When the hybrid super storm that is Sandy finally reaches these parts, it promises sustained big winds and floods of rain. Current predictions are that the weather will last for days, with forecasts calling Sandy a wide storm, reaching nearly 800 miles in its width and packing 75 mile per hour winds. Landfall for the storm is expected sometime Monday, with high winds and heavy rains leading the way beginning Sunday evening. Continue Reading

Saturday there’s only a slight chance of rain, maybe twenty percent, so get outside and enjoy. Remember this time last year? Trees with leaves still turning colors were bent and broken from a late October snow storm that forced the
cancellation of the annual Halloween Parade. Come Tuesday, Sloatsburg may once again experience foul weather from Tropical Storm Sandy. So get out for some fun with friends and family and a late afternoon stroll though Sloatsburg. Continue Reading
