Earth Day weekend in and around Sloatsburg

Earth Day was born way back in another time in the country’s history, during upheavals of the 1960s, when pollution streamed from industrial smokestacks and oil spills in waters killed dolphins, fish and sea birds. It was a time when car windows were casually rolled down and trash was freely pitched to the side of the road. Sloatsburg Community Gets Together to Cleanup the Village

Volunteers from around Sloatsburg pitched in late April back in 2016, one of the first Keep Rockland Beautiful Sloatsburg Cleanups. Sloatsburg resident Carin Shapiro organized a successful local tie-in with the county effort that focused on the Sloatsburg Community Fields. This year’s effort takes place Sunday, April 29, starting at noon at the Municipal Building.
