Weird Halloween weather blew through Sloatsburg Thursday, October 27, dumping more than a foot of off-season snow on the village. Trees full of autumn yellow and green leaves bent from the burden, and the pop and snap of breaking branches could be heard throughout the night. By sunrise Friday, Sloatsburg was at a standstill. Workmen from the New York Department of Transportation finished work on the new bridge that crosses the Ramapo River along Seven Lakes Drive in Sloatsburg. The old bridge, along with much of the road, was washed out during the high waters  of Hurricane Irene at the end of August, 2011.

Seven Lakes Drive and the new bridge opened ahead of schedule, Wednesday, October 26, relieving traffic congestion throughout the Sloatsburg area.
