With 2:04 remaining in the first quarter, Kevin Jefferson scored his second 3 pointer for his 1,000 points. A thunderous roar swept through the gymnasium at Clarkstown South. He was immediately mobbed by his teammates as pandemonium set in. The Vikings and Clarkstown fans cheered as well.

Coach Scott Wright (a 1984 graduate of Sloatsburg Elementary) escorted Kevin to the center of the gym where he was presented with the ball that he used for this historic milestone accomplishment. A standing ovation continued as Kevin’s parents, brother Chris and sister Julie joined him on the court.

When play resumed, Kevin was in top form. He scored 27 points in Suffern’s unbelievable 57-55 victory over South. The game could not have been more thrilling and exciting as the lead changed several times. It could have been a Hollywood script, however, it was reality.

Kevin’s demeanor, skill, dedication, integrity and strength of character make him a role model. He is an inspiration for aspiring athletes. At the end of the game each person in the crowd realized that they had witnessed and participated in a magical night. The memories will last for many years.

Sloatsburg joins his family, teammates, friends and school in sharing in this celebration and being so proud of him. We all take pride in sharing the joy and jubilation of this milestone achievement. Our community remains united in hope, vision and spirit.

Best wishes in all endeavors.
Very truly yours,
Carl S. Wright
Mayor
