Village Volunteers Give Away Masks to Help the Community

Posted on 02 May 2020 by Editor

A Sloatsburg municipal volunteer crew gave away some 1000 masks on May 1st at Village Hall. Members of the community drove up on a first come basis for a quick grab and go to receive a package of sealed, washable face masks.

The community service effort was led by Mayor Carl Wright, Deputy Mayor and Village Trustee Peter Akey, Trustee Dan O’Leary, Darrell Frasier, and Joyce Donohue.

The village received a limited allotment of washable masks from the Town of Ramapo.

Donohue helped refine the Village Hall distribution system through her work with the Sloatsburg Food Pantry, which has seen an enormous increase in participants (more than 350 people responded at the last Food Pantry day).

The volunteers wore masks and gloves and saw a steady stream of people drive through to collect the free items.

At this time, there is not another distribution of masks scheduled.

Thanks to Geoff Welch for taking all these super photos on a misty May day.
