The Friends of Harmony Hall continue to welcome the holiday season to Sloatsburg this Sunday, December 8, as it throws open its doors for an extended Victorian Holiday experience. If you missed last week due to the snowy blow, visit this Sunday from 1-5PM, when the Friends group hosts an Open House with live music in the parlor.

The Jacob Sloat House will be decked out in Victorian-era fashion for Sunday’s event.

There will also be a Holiday Craft Shoppe as the halls are lighted with festive holiday decor. The family friendly event is free and includes supervised children’s arts and crafts throughout the afternoon.

The event is part of Sloatsburg Chamber of Commerce’s Winterfest, which takes place at 27 Mill Street at the village Commuter Lot.

The FOHH are an active non-profit group that promotes historical preservation and has positioned the 1848 Jacob Sloat mansion as an active cultural resource center that includes year round history, music and environmental programs/events.

Harmony Hall was built by Jacob Sloat in 1848, with members of the Sloat family living in the avant-guard Greek Revival house on the hill until 1908, when it passed out of the family. The Friends of Harmony Hall efforts seeks to restore the house to as it was when the Sloat family lived in it from 1848-1908, and establish the property as an historical, environmental and education center for the Ramapo Highlands region.
