Note: The Bonfire Blaze event has been postponed with a new date yet to be set. The impending high winds and arctic temperatures blowing through this weekend are responsible for the cancellation.

With a pause in the recent winter weather, Tuxedo will celebrate community Saturday night by hosting the annual Night Brightening Blaze Bonfire at Powerhouse Park.

Sponsored by the Town of Tuxedo Recreation Department, the event takes place on Valentine’s Day, February 14, with things kicking off at 4 p.m.

This Tuxedo Recreation Department annual winter event includes music, ice skating, hot chocolate and marshmallow roasting, plus plenty of pizza by the slice — from everyone’s favorite local pizza joint, Take A Break. The Tuxedo Fire Department will be on hand to handle the big blaze.

This year’s event includes the first ever Tuxedo Jingle Jog, a new entry for the event that will consist of a race through an obstacle course. Each age group winner will receive a prize. The race will be once around the 1/3 mile Powerhouse Park track and then through the homemade obstacle course, with participants finishing with one more lap around the track.

Running heats will be organized by age. All participants must wear winter boots, no sneakers. Prizes for first, second and third place. There will also be a prize given for the Craziest Winter Hat.

Races will begin at 4:00 p.m.

Registration involves a simple email with the participant’s name, age and contact information. A $5 registration fee from all participants will be collected on the day of the race.
