The Sloatsburg Library has been getting ready for a double dose of summer activities with the kick off of Summer Reading on the beginning of its Midweek Madness program next week.

Summer Reading is one of the library’s most important community outreach and educational programs which sees an increase in activities across all age groups. With the addition of the six week summer program Midweek Madness for Sloatsburg kids, Library staff will be busy.

Midweek Madness is an extra, camp-like experience, separate from Summer Reading, that participating patrons have paid a fee for and includes indoor and outdoor activities and events. Midweek Madness is set to run Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays,10 a.m. through 1 p.m., from July 2 through August 8.

Public libraries across New York state will be busy preparing for annual Summer Reading program that all focus on improving literacy skills for kids from elementary school through middle and high school. Sloatsburg’s Summer Reading program includes creative rewards and other prizes to help invest kids in the process.

Jester Jim visits the Sloatsburg Library on Friday, June 28, at 11 a.m to entertain with his extraordinary juggling skills. Friday’s program allows parents and students to visit the Sloatsburg Library for a fun mid morning program while signing up for Summer Reading.
