The First Winter Market Comes To Town

Posted on 07 December 2012 by Editor

It’s back! But with interesting goods and best holiday wishes for you.

The Tuxedo Farmers’ Market has announced its first Winter Market, held at the Tuxedo Train Station on Saturday from 10 a.m to 1 p.m.

After a popular run throughout the summer and fall, the market has worked on providing a winter outlet for both vendors and customers that will see the market held on the second Saturday of the month this winter. Market Manager Annmarie McAnany and President Christine Tremblay worked out the logistics and vendor participation to include winter days at the same location people are used – the Tuxedo Train Station. It was a unified effort by all involved, the market, vendors and Tuxedo.

The next scheduled Winter Market is January 12, 2013. After that whole Mayan thing happens, of course.

So, this is a chance to stock up on some fresh foods and other goods for the holidays. Saturday’s market includes winter vegetables, wreaths, grave blankets, trees, fresh eggs, chicken, pizza, mozzarella, grass fed beef, and the ever delicious selection of baked goods. Consider this a local thing, and go out to see what might work for the holiday table.

Special guest artists include EzOn Jewelry with Nancy Dethmers and featuring Nancy’s famous Pet “Cameos,” along other beaded jewelry.

Be sure to stop by the table of guest vendor Sally Ann Designs and see if any of her knitted or crocheted items fit.

Tuxedo Farmers’ Market winter vendors include Bella Mozzarella, Cedar Rock Products, Healthway Farms, Kiernan Farm, The Little Bake Shop, Peg’s Eggs, Honey & Chicken, Pie Eyed Bar Pies, Ricky’s Produce, Ruffikins Muffins, and Sutton Family Farm Cheese.

These folks travel from all over to come here and setup for area residents. To help keep them coming this way, support the market – event though it looks like cold rain on Saturday. Be brave and visit the market.
