The annual Thanksgiving Day football game has entered the pantheon of American holiday activities. Lawn football games are a tradition that play out on campuses, in neighborhoods and parks all across the country. Geoff Welch was on hand when a collection of  Sloatsburg sons got together during Thursday morning’s chill to play a spirited game of football on the adjoining Lawns of Harmony Hall and the Sloatsburg Public Library.

Sloatsburgers, many who played sports for Suffern High School, meet up on Thanksgiving morning for some touch football.

The great Lawn of Harmony Hall is overlooked by Liberty Rock Park and its rocky summit of ancient granite gneiss. Old friends, many home from various colleges, took to the field in on Thanksgiving morning under a blue, chilly sky for a couple of hours.
