Suffern Girls relay team captures state title

SuffernXT-TFThe Suffern Girls Track Team experienced all sorts of goodness at the weekend NY state championship meet in Albany Friday and Saturday.

Senior Imani Solani broke the tape in the 200 meters, winning her first state outdoor title in a personal best time of 24.16. And Suffern’s sophomore sensation Kam McIntosh rocked the stadium with a state meet record in her championship 800 meter final at 2:05.63.

LoHud reporter Nancy Haggerty’s excellent coverage of the event captured Solan’s nice summation of her stellar Suffern track career. “It was the perfect ending. I can say I left it all on the track,” Solan said. “It’s like track graduation. Crossing the line that last time was like getting a track diploma.”

With Kamryn McIntosh just a sophomore and Rachel Ludwikoski returning for her senior year, plus the addition of Mary Hennely who will be just a freshman, the girls team looks like it will continue to achieve — especially with the championship experience of the past several years.

The girls 4×400 relay team of Nicole Becker, Kyra Greenbaum, Kamryn McIntosh, and Imani Solan took the federation title in Section 1 with a state championship and Section 1 record run of 3:46.15. Sloatsburg’s Matt Leanza finished 12th in the state overall in the pole vault.
