St. Mary’s Celebrates Spring With Music

Spring officially arrives on Thursday, March 20, perhaps heralded by the passing of the giant asteroid Erigone, which is due to cross in front of the bright star Regulus at 2 a.m. Thursday morning.

The Amaranthus Ensemble performs Sunday, March 23, at St. Mary’s in Tuxedo.

A certain celebration of spring will take place this Sunday at St. Mary’s-in-Tuxedo Episcopal Church when the Amaranthus Ensemble performs works by Beethoven, Kreisler, Kargul, Glazounoff, Fuchs, Mozart and Handel.

The trio consists of of Rachel Crozier (violin), Piotr Kargul (viola) and Ron De Fesi (piano).

The March 23 concert takes place at 6:30 p.m. and is free of charge (donation will be accepted). A reception will follow the performance with an opportunity to speak with the performers. St. Mary’s is located at 10 Fox Hill Road in Tuxedo Park. For more information, call 845-351-5122.

Tuxedo Chamber of Commerce

tuxchamberlogoThe Tuxedo Chamber of Commerce will welcome spring this Thursday during its March meeting at the Tuxedo Historical Society at 7 Hospital Road, just off Orange Turnpike in downtown Tuxedo. The meeting takes place at 6 p.m.

The Tuxedo Historical Society is dedicated to preserving the physical history of Tuxedo and Tuxedo Park.

The Tuxedo Chamber is in the midst of its annual Have-A-Heart campaign, which raises funds locally to support the Tuxedo Union Free School District’s BackPack Program. The BackPack fills up backpacks of those students in need at both George Mason Middle School and George Baker High Schoo. The nutrition program seeks to provide child-friendly, shelf-stable foods to children in need and relies solely on donations.

The Have-A-Heart campaign is a major Tuxedo Chamber initiative.

Additionally, members and potential members: the membership enrollment deadline for 2014 is April 1st. Members must pay 2014 Membership dues to be in good standing for the year. Remit dues of $75 to PO Box 514 in Tuxedo NY 10987-0514.
