Small fire at Sloatsburg Train Station causes brief morning commute delay – Sloatsburg Fire Department responds

An apparent switch fire flared on the tracks at the Sloatsburg Train Station Tuesday morning.

Morning commuters at the Sloatsburg Train Station reported a small track fire Tuesday morning, December 13. With the 7:25 a.m. train running a few minutes late, an apparent electrical switch fire flared on the tracks. The incident was called into the Sloatsburg Fire Department which promptly responded.

The SFD officially booked the incident as a small “brush, mulch, rubbish” fire.

As the Seacaucus-bound morning MTA train arrived and departed some 15 minutes late, a train conductor mentioned to passengers that switch fires can be a regular occurrence along train lines.

The Sloatsburg Volunteer Fire Department responded promptly to the reported Sloatsburg Train Station track fire, helping to keep the MTA morning train on schedule.
