Sloatsburg Saturday

Did that temperature really dip down into the twenties overnight? The oak and elm leaves are the last holdouts, turning brown and yellow before they finally fall, baring themselves in November.

Well, warm up with a walk through the Tuxedo Farmers’ Market. Our Father’s Farm sells the softest, most adorable Alpaca wool products imaginable.

Doc Baynes leads a 2 mile hike to the Upper and Lower California Mines and the old town of Lakeville as part of the Annual Highlands Conference. If time allows, Doc will show hikers the Benjamin Mine, “never seen before.” The hike will leave the Sterling forest visitors center at 10 a.m.

The Locksmiths play their brand of Americana music Saturday at the Tuxedo Farmers’ Market from 10am to 1pm.

Looking to pick through some things? One never knows when one person’s cast off is another’s perfect find.

St. Mary’s in Tuxedo holds its annual “Yard Sale” at the Tuxedo Train Station today, October 26, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The sale takes place adjacent to the Tuxedo Farmers’ Market, where there will be hot coffee and baked goods.

The Market features music by The Locksmiths, who will jam with their own brand of Americana music, playing both original tunes and unique takes on covers.

After a few songs, walk on over to the St. Mary’s sale at the Tuxedo Train Station. Items for sale will include clothes, winter wear, household items, toys, books. You know, interesting things. All proceeds go to benefit various St. Mary’s outreach ministries.

And there’s always a visit to BackHome Antiques to warm up and wander through the expansive two floors of antiques and collectibles and retro pieces.

Remember the road home to Sloatsburg closes briefly at 5 p.m. for the Village of Sloatsburg’s Annual Halloween Parade.
