The new and improved Sloatsburg Library features computer stations, a Keurig coffee cafe, completely renovated Chapel room with patron study and reading lounge, quiet room, and updated bathrooms.

Library Manager Annmarie McAnany said the entire effort was made possible by a New York State Libraries construction grant and the tireless help of Library staff.

SPL workstations&lounge“We were one of only 11 libraries in the 47 library RCLS system to get this grant,” said McAnany, who has been on a revitalization tear over the past year, working to reshape the Library’s interior space to better accommodate patron needs.

The NYS construction grant paid for the restoration of the Chapel room, which features a new wood plank floor, fresh coat of paint, redesigned shelving, and quiet room.

During the renovation, dedicated staff had to box books, dismantle shelves and cart everything from the Chapel to the Community Room, with a little help from Friends and the Sloatsburg Department of Public Works.

The Library’s new furnishings include couches and chairs that invite patrons to visit, relax and enjoy the quiet.
