Sloatsburg Chamber Welcomes in a New Year and Celebrates Members

Posted on 20 January 2020 by Editor

The Sloatsburg Chamber got off to a running start a couple years ago. With members celebrating a new year, the Sloatsburg Chamber has already filled out its 2020 calendar that includes seasonal community events, a membership campaign and strategic partnership.

This past year saw the chamber find its footing, both organizationally and as a vital community voice. The chamber leadership team, including Barbara Berntsen, Susie McDonagh, Kathy Goldman, and Joyce Donohue, has worked with an engaged core of managing members to build up the chamber’s profile in Sloatsburg and beyond.

Marianna Krichevsky has colorfully captured the many activities and members of the chamber on Facebook, complete with promotional videos, member spotlights, and plenty of information for new members.

The takeaway for the Sloatsburg Chamber is that in just a few very short years, its leadership and participating members have helped make change in the community by galvanizing Sloatsburg’s main street and providing an important voice for the business community.

Individual chamber memberships (with streamlined benefits) can be had for $25 while full memberships are $85. Some people ask what it is exactly that they get with a Sloatsburg Chamber membership. That short answer is a greater voice in community matters and advocacy. The chamber has established itself as organization that collaborates with other local groups, including the Village, to promote Sloatsburg. That promotion comes in the form of chamber Block Parties and other events, sponsorships and active leadership on economic and quality of life issues facing residents. Chamber membership provides a individual members with a greater voice.

The material return on membership is basically contributing to the cause. Full membership gets you inclusion in the chamber’s directories and periodic social media business spotlights, plus the accrued value of participation via the chamber in such efforts as with school backpack and school supply purchases for children in need, the sponsorship of the Sloatsburg Elementary 5th Grade student winning the “What Sloatsburg Means to Me” Essay contest, and the creation of Ramapo Woodmont Apartment “Welcome Bags” that included member promotional items.

Chamber membership helps with community engagement. Lend your voice.
