Sign Up For A Few Local Library Programs

Posted on 03 September 2013 by Editor

Well, it’s that time of the year to put your whites away as late summer and early fall is upon us – back to school and all.

The Sloatsburg Public Library has you covered with a full schedule of fall programming (you might have seen the latest Book & Beyond in the mail). Did you ever want to Tush Push or put on your duds and kick up your heels to the Virginia Reel? Now you can learn some fancy footwork by signing up for the library’s Line Dancing program. $20 gets you four Tuesday classes: September 17, 24, October 1 and the 8.

LibrarySignLine Dancing is just one of the many library programs offered. Others include Defensive and Safety Driving Courses, Beaded Wrap Bracelet and Bookmark classes, as well as regular Quilting and Knitting nights and Isolated Stretching classes.

The library has a full slate of young children, kids and adult programming, some free and some with a fee attached. Look for the popular Fall Storytimes, a block of childrens’ programming tailored to pre-school kids, along with other educational and craft programs for older kids that complement the holidays and seasons.

Saturday, October 12, at 7:30 p.m., the library will host International Observe the Moon Night that includes a whole evening dedicated to  the night sky. Saturday, December 7, the Friends of the Sloatsburg Library will host the 5th Annual Holiday Vendor Fair (interested vendors can sign up now).

So, take a long look at Sloatsburg Library’s programming for something that just might pique your interest. If you didn’t receive a Books & Beyond Fall newsletter, pick one at the front desk.

A few program highlights include an appearance Sunday, September 22, at 1 .m. by the Hip Replacements Band; Teen Movie, an afternoon of popcorn with movie on the big screen in the community room that takes place on the 2nd Sunday of each month; and, starting in October, an X-Box 360 Tournament that will take place on the 2nd Wednesday of the month.

Call the Sloatsburg Public Library for information about programs and activities, as well as a copy of Books & Beyond.
