School Board Recognizes Pine Grove Eagle Scout

Posted on 06 February 2012 by Admin

The Ramapo Central School Distract Board of Education meets the first and third Tuesday of the month at the district offices in Hillburn. During each meeting, the superintendent takes time to recognize student achievement somewhere in the Ramapo schools.

At last month’s board meeting, Schools Superintendent Dr. Douglas Adams and Board President Craig Long recognized Pine Grove Lakes own Daniel Patrick Green for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. Eagle Scout is the highest rank in the Boy Scouts program — once an Eagle, a scout is an Eagle for life.

For his Eagle Scout service project, Green installed safe access to electrical outlets and lighting at Saint Joan of Arc Church to enhance functionality and appearance. A member of Troop 2146, Green is a 15 year old sophomore at Suffern High School. He becomes the second Pine Grove Eagle Scout. Justin Leanza recently completed his Eagle Scout community project by building an exercise path along the Grove near the Pine Grove Lakes basketball courts.

Dr. Adams recognized Green’s accomplishment at the board meeting by presenting him with a certificate of achievement.

This month’s board meeting will recognize Suffern High School’s Robotics Team. Additionally, the board is scheduled to approve the Suffern Middle School’s annual overnight trip, this year planned for Boston and a visit to the Salem Witch Museum.

Ramapo Central Board of Education meetings are generally held on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the District Office, 45 Mountain Avenue, Hillburn, New York. All regularly scheduled board meetings are open to the public and citizens are encouraged to participate. Closed sessions may be called for matters of a sensitive nature.
