A big weekend is coming up, with much of the Hudson Valley overtaken by Super Bowl fever. The big game takes place in New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

goldenglovesCloser to home, on Saturday, February 1, the 87th Annual Daily News Golden Gloves Bouts will kock-about at the Joseph T. St. Lawrence Center in Hillburn. Bouts begin at 3 p.m.

Step out and see an Oscar-nominated movie

The Oscars are also winding their way to a t.v. near you. With the Hollywood golden hour near, the Lafayette Theater in Suffern will preview many of the Oscar-nominated films this month during its Oscar Month at the Lafayette Theater.

Oscar Month at the Lafayette starts with the showing of American Hustle this week.  Nominated for ten Academy Awards, the movie explores the rapacious hearts of business scammers practicing their magic in the late 1970s, early 1980s Washington, DC.

February 6th will celebrate Black History Month with a special screening of Lee Daniels’ The Butler.
