Updated: The Town of Ramapo Police are still actively investigating that suspicious Waldron Terrace midnight fire that took place in Sloatsburg, NY early Tuesday morning, June 21.

The Sloatsburg Fire Department was called to the scene of a burning car that included the body of a burned man. The man, later identified 48-year-old Oseen Lavaud, from Orange County.

Waldron Terrace car fire update reported by LoHud as of Monday, June 27:

News12 Hudson Valley reported Thursday that Ramapo Police released a photo of three males apparently near the scene on the night of the incident.

According to police, the SFD responded to a car fire at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday morning at the darkened end of Waldron Terrace in a wooded property near a service road that leads to the NYS Thruway.

There’s a possibility the incident could be related to some kind of chemical reaction that took place inside the car, such as a flammable mishap. Or the incident could be as simple and tragic as a suddenly overheated engine that caught the occupant literally napping. Or there could be a more nefarious explanation to the car fire.
