Long Island Shooter Found In River

LongIslandgunmanSTONY POINT – The hunt for a gunman suspected of killing a man at a company near the Roosevelt Field Mall in Nassau County last week led to a body found in this morning in the in the Hudson River.

Police found the corpse of middle-age man in the Hudson River near Iona Island Monday morning, which turned out to be the body of a wanted man.

Body Found Iona IslandState Police say that at about 9:30 a.m. the body of a middle-age Asian man was recovered from the river near Iona Island and the Bear Mountain Bridge. Members of the Troop F Forensic Investigation Unit worked throughout the day with the Rockland County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Nassau County Police in an effort to identify the body.

Sang Ho Kim, 64, of Queens, has been sought since the shooting at Savenergy in East Garden City, when he fled in a Honda Pilot SUV later found at Sandy Beach at Little Stony Point Park along the Hudson north of Cold Spring. A manhunt soon ensued that closed schools last week and a stretch of Route 9D on Thursday.

Kim was identified by police as the gunman who shot up a lighting fixture company in Long Island last Wednesday, killing an employee and wounding another. The altercation was the result of a business dispute, according to police.

State parks police recovered a body off Stony Point Monday morning, which turned out to be Kim’s. Kim’s death is still under investigation.
