The Cub Scouts of Tuxedo and Sloatsburg are cleaning up around here.

As part of the Keep Rockland Beautiful campaign, the scouts from Cub Scout Pack 46 cleaned up around the Sloatsburg municipal building and train station, picking up the trash that other folks discarded.

“It was a real mess,” said Pack 46 leader Brian Colton, who said the group filled the back of a full-size pickup truck with trash bags.

Cub Scout Pack 46 will hold a meet and greet for new scouts on Thursday, June 18th at Murphy Field in Tuxedo. The Pack will introduce a Lion program this year for incoming kindergarten boys. The Pack is open to Sloatsburg/Tuxedo boys K through 5th grade.

Pack 46 had a full and activity-packed year, enjoying a special overnight trip to West Point Museum in October that included military history,
scavenger hunt, and premium view of an assortment of tanks and humvees.

November saw Pack 46 join the Sloatsburg Food Pantry food drive, while February took the scouts tubing at Tuxedo Ridge, where the older boys took part in the Klondike Derby, where they learned about creating pioneering projects by building their own sledge. There was also the annual Pinewood Derby car race, where everyone create their own cars to race and compete on the long wooden track.

Pack families also enjoyed a trip to an Army Hockey Game this past March, went Maple Syruping at Hudson Highlands and visited the Guiding Eyes for the Blind dog training in Westchester.  Each month Pack 46 meets to discuss activities, work on going through stations, learn outdoor skill, or even ding and dance.
