Leap Day lets you make up for lost time

Posted on 29 February 2016 by Editor

February 29 was Leap Day. Cosmic time is as much art as science therefore a revolution around the sun takes slightly longer than 365 days. Leap Day is all that time in a day. One may live a day of purely measured time and snatch back a few moments gone by.

The muck up in the calendar and stargazing day occurs in most years divisible by 4 (Wikipedia), or in years of the rat, dragon and monkey in the Chinese calendar. This being the year of the Fire Monkey and all. You get this one day to make it all up.

The Rockland County Times covered the day back yonder in 1864. And thus it goes and has gone since before the Gregorian calendar.
