Casting Call for Mr. Woj’s Rocky Run

Let’s call him award winning. Call him legend. Most call him Mr. Woj, and he’s worked his gym magic in the Ramapo Central Schools outpost of Sloatsburg Elementary School for a few years now.

The Sloatsburg Elementary School Cross Country Team shoots a Rocky Run video Friday at Allen Lane at 3 p.m.

Wojehowski has put out a casting call for Friday, October 16 for interested people of all ages to line Allen Lane for the SES cross country team’s Rocky Run up Allen Lane to the school’s flag pool. The shoot is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. and should run to 4 p.m.

Bring signs, enthusiasm and cheers for the home team.

The casting call was put out for Sloatsburg participants to show up Friday afternoon, October 16, at Allen Lane at 3:15pmish for Mr. Woj’s Sloatsburg Elementary School cross country team Rocky Run — the XC team will participate in the annual Ramapo Central event on Saturday, October 31. The video will be shown at the XC pep rally on October 30.

The SES team will compete in the annual Ramapo Central elementary school cross country meet at Suffern High School, which takes place this year on Saturday, October 31, at approximately 9:30 a.m. Mr. Woj’s Sloatsburg Elementary XC teams nearly always compete for top honors at the annual Ramapo Central meet.

The Rocky Run video will be shown at the SES October 30 student pep rally leading up to the October 31 big event.

Those interested in participating as a crowd of supporters should show up at Allen Lane at 3:15 p.m.– the video shoot will last until about 4 p.m. The Rocky Run run up Allen Lane will include members of the SES cross country team following Mr. Woj — in the final video the Rocky theme music will play.

Signage and enthusiasm is encouraged. Sign suggestions include: Believe in the Burg, Train Like a Champion and Don’t panic, ADJUST!

RockyRunMr. Wojehowski’s PE classes at Sloatsburg Elementary are often many students’ first introduction to serious individual and team sports and physical activity via his innovative gym programs.

Mr. Woj was a double New York State education winner in 2013. He won the Amazing Person Award for the Catskills schools zone, awarded by NYSAHPERD — the Catskills district encompasses Orange, Sullivan, Ulster, and Rockland counties. Mr. Woj also was named the 2013 best gym teacher in the whole state New York when he received an Elementary Teacher of the Year Award from the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (NYSAHPERD)

Mr. Wojehowski’s PE programs were noted for their innovations and enthusiastic student participation.
