Broken Down Billboard W/Update

Posted on 26 February 2012 by Editor

I spy . . . . Broken windows, broken teeth. It only takes a couple of these to change a person’s outlook. What about a broken billboard? Along Rt. 17 between the Sloatsburg Municipal Building and traffic light at Seven Lakes Drive, a longtime village resident looks like it lost its stand against the elements. Whether from the gusty, high weekend winds or because its foundation shifted, the big yellow billboard on the east side of Rt. 17 is broken.

How long before the advertising eyesore falls? Or gets repaired . . . .

Update: Workmen hired by the billboard’s owner are in the process of dismantling and repairing the billboard this week. There was just enough of the sign left that it met code for repair. So, Sloatsburg didn’t have to wait very long at all for its answer to — what happens to a broken billboard in the middle of the village? Answer — it takes approximately a couple days for swift action. Now we’re down to half a sign.
