A Magical Titanic Show

Posted on 09 April 2012 by Editor

The sinking of “the jewel of the White Star Line” in the early morning hours of April 14 and 15 in 1912 — as the one-of-a-kind British luxury passenger liner RMS Titanic was known — was one of those singular events that still grips the public imagination. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the great ship’s demise, which was billed as an “unsinkable” ship but clipped an iceberg on its maiden voyage and sank.

Magician Ron Cain will bring his take on the disaster to the Sloatsburg Public Library Tuesday afternoon with his show, “A Magical Trip to the Titanic.” Cain’s show depicts life on the Titanic as it sailed off from New York at the turn of the century. Cain acts as a magical time traveler, giving kids an idea of what life might have been like aboard the ocean liner. Cain will interact with his audience as children help him perform tricks and illusions that highlight and feature key figures historical figures related to the event. Cain touches on various elements of the tragedy that eventually led to improvements in maritime safety. A Syracuse University graduate and former teacher, Cain performs educational magic shows for libraries and schools throughout the Northeast.

“The purpose of “A Magical Trip to the Titanic” is to use magic and illusion to show what life was like on the Titanic 100 years ago,” said Cain. ” The 45-minute magic program also illustrates what problems led to its sinking and the safety precautions that resulted from it.”

Performing his magic since 1998, Cain has developed a unique audience rapport, using his shows to entertain and educate. Cain has more than 16 years of experience performing at schools, libraries, companies and festivals throughout New York and has developed a large repitoire of magical characters, including Uncle Sam’s Old Time Magic Show, Wandering Wizard Show, Magical Museum Show, Captain HurriCain’s Seaside Magic Show andDiscover Millennium Magic Show.

“For me, magic is a way to create different world’s and realities to entertain and educate the audience,” said Cain. “Let me know if you have more questions.”

Join Ron Cain on “A Magical Trip to the Titanic,” a magic show that commemorates the 100th anniversary of the ship’s sinking in 1912, Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Sloatsburg Public Library. For information about the show, call the library at 753-2001.
