RamapoxmasThis time, the show will go on.

The Lafayette Theatre in Suffern is the place to be Saturday morning, December 21, for the annual Town of Ramapo Christmas Spectacular. There’ll be singing and Santa and an original silent movie, Big Business, featuring Laural & Hardy — with music by Jeffery Barker and the Mighty Wurlitzer.

Doors open at 10 a.m. and the program is scheduled to begin at 10:50 a.m.

Supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence and the Ramapo Town Board, Lafayette Theatre owner Ari Benmosche, and other officials will be in attendance.

There will be plenty of caroling and bell ringing as the Cherry Lane Handbell Choir performs (Cherry Lane Elementary was named a 2013 National Blue Ribbon school, the first named in the Ramapo Central School District).

The fun and always entertaining Suffern High School Select Choir will also perform.

After the live performances and an appearance by Santa himself, there will be a big screen showing of, well, you guessed it — It’s A Wonderful Life.

Tickets for the cost $8 and a limited amount will be sold at the door. Tickets purchased for last Saturday’s snow-cancelled show can be used for the December 21 Christmas Spectacular. Parking is available at the Lafayette Theatre as well as at the Suffern Downtown Municipal Parking Lot and at the Avon Products Lot at 35 Washington Avenue.

For additional information, contact the Town of Ramapo’s Supervisor’s office at 845-357-511 (ext. 201).
