Just last January Julia Roberts and Lucas Hedges were filming in and around Sloatsburg. The Sloatsburg Library acted as night time movie shoot headquarters for the Ben is Back crew. The independent production follows a harrowing day in the life of Holly Burns (Julia Roberts) which just happens to be the Christmas Eve her son Ben suddenly comes back home.

Ben is a struggling opioid addict who got hooked after a high school sports injury. His addiction took on a life of its own and sucked up not only Ben but his entire family. The film takes place in one night and includes flashbacks. The emotionally climatic scene was filmed at the Super Seven across from Seven Lakes Station along Route 17.

The movie filmed scenes in and around several Sloatsburg spots, including the Library, outside Hayward Deli & Market, the Super Seven, and Haas Pharmacy.
